Slow Cooker Garlic Parmesan Chicken
Tender chicken simmered in a creamy garlic parmesan sauce. This slow cooker recipe comes together with minimal hands on time and yields juicy results with a rich, cheesy finish.
Prep Time 15 minutes mins
Cook Time 20 minutes mins
- 1.5 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- to taste pinch salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Season the chicken with salt and pepper and set aside.
In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sear the chicken on both sides just until lightly browned. This step adds flavor, but you can skip it if you prefer to go straight to the slow cooker.
Place the chicken in the slow cooker. Add minced garlic, chicken broth, heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. Stir briefly to combine.
Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
If you want a thicker sauce, transfer the sauce to a small saucepan and simmer over medium heat until it reduces to your liking, then return it to the slow cooker.
Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed. Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
